It's been well over a month since I did a blog post. I guess it's time I do an update before 2012 is over and we hop into 2013. :)
The past month and a half have been extremely busy. I'll start with work first. I left my job at the Service Centre to start a new position with Health PEI. I did a lot of support for the clinical information system working at the Service Centre so when full time permanent jobs opened up with Health PEI to be a Clinical Informatics Specialist I jumped at the opportunity. There were 2 openings available and I got one! Pay raise, no more evening and weekend shifts and I get to learn more about CIS. I LOVE it! :)
Baby news - lots! We had a bit of a scare about a month and a half ago. My maternal serum testing came back indicating an increased risk for down syndrome or spina bifida. I was sent to the IWK to have an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. I'm happy to report everything looks good. The odds of down syndrome or spina bifida are 1 in 500 as the ultrasound didn't show any markers. We could have had an aminocintesis performed to confirm 99.9% but there were risks involved with that which we weren't willing to take. Whatever God has in store for us we are ready to accept. :) I'm pretty confident that Baby Beck is doing just fine though! I don't recall the maternal serum testing being available during my first two pregnancies. If they were, I'm pretty sure I didn't have them done. From what I've read online a lot of women are prone to get fake positives depending on their age and other factors. The staff at the IWK were amazing though and the experience was good.
As well, because I stink at keeping secrets we have already started telling people that the baby is a BOY! I have another son. :) This led to Alex jumping up and down cheering in the ultrasound room while Allison cried (she really wanted a baby sister). Thankfully Allison has come around and everyone is now super excited to welcome baby boy into the family. All it took was telling Allison she wouldn't have to share her room and the disappointment was over lol. Alex is already making design plans for how the bedroom needs to look for him and Baby Beck. Baby will be bunking in our room for the first few months with his crib then we'll make the transition to the boys sharing a room. Boys...wow...am I really having another baby? It still feels surreal to say. I love it!!

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year! All the best in 2013. :-) I promise to blog more in the new year!
