I promised I would do an honest update on Body by Vi. It's been 6 days and I think I have a solid opinion on where I stand with this product.
As I already mentioned - the shakes taste great. The texture is good, the flavour is yummy when you add other things to them like frozen fruit, fat free pudding mixes, peanut butter, etc. On their own, mixed in just milk or water, I'm not a big fan. I'm not a big vanilla fan though so take that opinion with a grain of salt.
My energy levels felt better and the scale did go down 5 lbs when I drank the shakes, twice a day, for 4 days straight. At the end of day 4, I was feeling "Ugh not another shake for supper." I was missing the chewing sensation of my food and was getting tired of having to drink a meal. I'm sure other people could probably go longer with this, but having been on a liquid diet for months a couple of times with jaw surgery, this conjured up some bad memories for me. Again, it's not that the shakes tasted bad - I was just missing the pleasure of eating my food. Roy and the kids would be sitting down to a nice meal and I'd have a cold shake in my hand. Did I feel full after I drank it? Yes. Did I like the taste? Yes. Was I feeling satisfied on a personal enjoyment level? No. I felt disconnected from the family because we weren't eating the same thing.
I believe the product works because it's a low calorie, liquid diet. If you can stick to drinking the shakes twice a day, eat the healthy snacks and balanced meal, the weight will come off. I've seen Jeff lose over 40 lbs and he looks incredible. I'm so amazingly proud of him! I've seen my beautiful cousin Cathy lose over 71 lbs doing Body by Vi too. I'm glad this product was able to give them the kickstart they were looking for in their journey to healthier lifestyles.
Having overcome a heavier lifestyle of where I was nearly 300 lbs, I understand that sometimes we search for that kickstart in the beginning to get us moving in a healthier direction. "If I could just get the first 10-20 lbs off quickly I would feel so motivated." We all have a choice when it comes to how we want to do things in life. The way I started my weight loss program back in 2005 is probably a lot different from how others would have started. I still ate some cookies but I tracked every calorie that went in my mouth. Other people would scream it's dead wrong to track calories in that manner.
For myself, I think I will look to the Body by Vi shakes as a potential supplement when I'm looking to enjoy a nice protein drink. I have a busy work schedule with on call, sometimes I don't have time to make a meal or sometimes I just want a milkshake so I'd definitely opt for this. For me, I just couldn't stick with drinking these twice a day long term. I need to feel connected to my family and enjoy our mealtimes together. Granted, we may not eat the exact same foods, but at least we can share the common joy of chewing together. :) I'm not sure if this makes sense, but I hope it does. I believe enjoying your food is a big part of being successful in weight loss. Learning how to make healthier food choices. Feeling connected to your family. It's more than just eating food or banging back calories. Balance in all areas of life.
I hope this post makes sense. I'm battling a sinus cold and it's a little hard to concentrate at times. I thank Jeff immensely for providing me with the opportunity to try this product. I enjoyed it. :)

Great followup Kim :)

Thanks for the honest review, Kimmy.
I will point out one thing. You spoke about feeling disconnected by not eating the same thing as your family at suppertime.
It is your choice which two meals you replace. I always replace breakfast and lunch with a shake and then have a great, full supper with my family. I've never had to feel any disconnect due to that because I eat what they eat at suppertime and I eat with them. :)
As for "ugh...not another shake for supper"...to be fair, as you mentioned, you were drinking shakes for months after your jaw surgery and anyone would be sick of drinking the shakes after that.
I have been drinking two shakes per day for 110 days straight as I type this comment..and I LOVE them! I look forward to each shake and with over 100 different recipes, I never get sick of the taste!
I thank you so much for your honest review. Your opinion means so much to me and I respect everything you say. You've been through it the hard way and you came out on top!
Thanks again...you're the best, Kimmy! :)
